Ammo' Expansion Testing - Introduction

I have again used the newspaper wetpack method. Only difference this time was that the pack was slightly thinner - probably a little over 9 inches but very wet! I also had a second thinner pack made up as a back-up
. I didn't take a fresh pic so am using the one from previous test again ... no real difference except for reduced thickness.

I'll mention again ..... the ''dead soldier'' propping up this stack - not from my consumption please note!!

Wet paper general set up

I put three shots of each into the pack (except Ranger - only two - kept one as spare) but much closer than last test - about 4 and some feet distance ... the reason being a wish to keep shot placement more critical - in the hope that bullet collisions could be avoided, as well keeping each type well separated.

The main testing (primary objective) was covering the WWB 115 and 147 JHP's - the Win Ranger 147 JHP's, the Win Silvertip 115 JHP's, and the CCI Blazer 115 JHP's.

Here are the intact rounds .. Note, I have measured OAL's because of noticing the shorter lengths of the three in the middle in particular. OAL of 124 Gold Dots by the way is also around 1.125 - like the Blazer. Close comparison of Blazer and Gold Dots I should mention, confirms the useage of the Speer bullet in CCI Blazer.

The five main ammo types on test

On the face of it - all these appear to be potentially effective but results tended to show quite some variation between types.

I have placed the results pics on a following page, in order to keep page sizes down a bit. Expansion Results - pics .........
