Conclusions

This is the last part I need to write and it may well be that this will not be fully completed immediately.
It's possible that feedback may yield more information, and so some later additions.

For the time being I think I can say very easily, that the Speer Gold Dots really do ''have it'' for this gun .. probably in fact for about any 9mm. It is no wonder so many people keep these in their carry pieces.

The Federal is not that impressive but being fair, like with the Golden Sabers ..... a longer barrel and so a velocity increase could and should see these bullets performing better. I do tho even on the basis of energy alone, see the Gold Dots as superior.

The selection of targets is not, in retrospect, really all that useful but, I will leave them in for now. They do as I stated help show a ''trend'' and -
I do not expect hole cutting accuracy from a gun as small as the R9s ... even with my shooting, it does all I would expect and hope for.

The choice of ammo is I feel a major factor to get the best out of it. I will be now definitely changing over to Gold Dots ... 115's from preference as they seem to have the absolute edge.

It does strike that .... in my gun and with my shooting - that the heavier the bullet gets the more likely it seems that I get closer to POA ... in other words, the lighter bullets - whether good performers or not - do seem to shoot for me low and left. At close quarters I doubt this is a major problem.

One thing I was interested to note, was that the primers in quite a number of cases, show some odd indent. See pic below ...... it was discussed a while ago on THR with regard to IIRC a Glock. It appears that the case relative to the firing pin has ''skidded'' a bit - the case moving sideways whilst pin still protruding. The lower left two cases show this well. I do not see it as a problem - more an interesting happening. Some may wish to comment on that.

Primer examples

I had only one malfunction in the whole test program ... it was a last shot from a mag ..... when shooting at the wet paper - it is likely I was casual with grip and let it go too slack.

NOTE - One point I need to make - is to emphasize the need to check the grip screws on right side .... I had forgotten to Locktite them and part ways thru testing did check. The forward of the two was loosening quite a bit, so - tightened. I think later it will be less of a problem when harder screws are used . and maybe ''Torx'' type also. Something to watch tho when putting a larger than normal amount of ammo thru.

I will welcome comments, criticisms and any feedback on this test, (remembering I am somewhat an ''amateur'' at testing!) ... probably the easiest route being thru PM on one of the boards I frequent. I hope it will prove to be useful to many .. in particular to R9 owners and prospective owners, as well maybe as any other 9mm users too.
